"Fake Love!" - 20x20 cm, Exclamation Mark Series

In Fake Love!, I cast a confrontational gaze upon the world of pornography. A woman performs a sexual act, but instead of a genital organ, a candy cane is painted – a scene that appears seductive at first glance. But how real is this? What truly lies behind the illusion of these images? Is watching porn really as harmless as it seems?

Pornography creates unrealistic expectations, distorts our perception of sexuality, and presents a false reality of what love and intimacy should be. Especially for young people, it offers a distorted version of relationships, filled with superficial bodies and performance-driven actions, while lacking emotional connection. The damage goes beyond just disrupted sexual development; it can lead to addiction, a decrease in empathy, and the objectification of others.

Fake Love! poses the question: What happens when we measure our most intimate moments against fantasy and commerce, rather than true connection and respect?

Is this the love we want? Or is it time for a more realistic view of intimacy?
